West Yorkshire region help boost Morley school Christmas raffle
19 November 2020
The Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire team has helped a Morley primary school to purchase new IT equipment.
The Leeds team donated a luxury festive hamper to St Francis Catholic Primary School’s Christmas raffle. The school was aiming to raise sufficient funds for 10 new laptops and with its traditional fund raising events cancelled, due to the Coronavirus, it knew it needed the raffle to be extra special.
Vicky Crosby from the school PTA team said: “The current pandemic has put a stop to our usual fundraising activities however, the school still needs the additional funds from the PTA to help enhance pupils learning. We approached local businesses to see if they could help add that extra sparkle to our Christmas raffle and we were delighted to receive the Persimmon Homes’ support. The hamper really is something special and a great boost to our impressive prize list.”
Christopher Hull, deputy managing director of Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire, said: “Fundraising for all organisations, charities and school is very challenging at the moment but we believe the education of our younger generation is very important and are happy to support schools such as, St Francis Catholic Primary School, where we can.”
Other groups looking for support are encouraged to apply to the Persimmon Homes Community Champions initiative which seeks to support grassroots groups and charities in areas where the company is building. Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire makes two donations of up to £1,000 every month to worthy causes and all applications are made on online by visiting www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.
