Work starts on latest homes at Hethersett
30 April 2024
Work has started on the latest phase of the Kett’s Meadow development at Hethersett, near Norwich.
Our Anglia team have started work on Phase B3 of the new community, bringing 148 new homes to the village, ranging in size from one to five bedrooms after securing planning permission.
The latest phase will include 30 affordable homes which will be transferred to a housing association to address the urgent need in the area, with 21 available for rent at below market value and nine reserved for shared ownership.
The allocation also includes a further acre of land which will be transferred to South Norfolk Council for the provision of additional affordable dwellings.
We have outline planning permission for a total of 596 homes at Kett’s Meadow, and as well as housing, the scheme is providing improved highways connections, community facilities, a local centre, a new primary school and allotments.
There will be formal and informal play spaces built throughout the new community, including a play area for small children within Phase B3.
Persimmon will be using strategic landscaping to support local wildlife and making contribution to the council to support with projects aimed at protecting natural habitats
Commenting on the project's approval, Michelle Baker, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes Anglia, said: “We are delighted to be bringing forward the latest phase of this new community at Hethersett, delivering high-quality new homes that will help meet housing need locally.
“We have worked with the council to ensure we bring extensive biodiversity enhancements to the area for the benefit of the whole community, while the transfer of additional land to the council for housing will allow them to further reduce their housing wait lists.”
Sales of the new homes launch on May 11.
