York City fans welcome street names at Bootham Crescent
17 February 2023

The history of York City FC’s former football ground is to be preserved at Persimmon’s new Bootham Crescent development in York.
Over the last year, our Yorkshire business has been working closely City of York Council, York City FC and their fans on how best to honour the memory of those who played at the 90-year-old football ground.
Late last year Persimmon received sign off from the Council to go ahead with naming the three streets and four apartment buildings on the development after deceased York City players and managers.
To help us formally announce the names chosen, in November we brought relatives of some of those to be honoured to Bootham Crescent to see the plans for the development and to give their reaction to the announcements.

Working in partnership with the York Press, throughout December and January the seven names have been released in the media with photos and video interviews with some of the relatives who visited the site.
We’ve had a fantastic response from all the parties involved and from fans and residents in York and in the local media.
Over the coming months we’ve got further exciting announcements to make as we move forward with construction and open sales for the 93 new homes that will the development will provide.
