The York RLFC Foundation has welcomed a donation of £6,000 from Persimmon after successfully applying for funding via our Community Champions scheme.
Foundation Delivery Manager Adam Prentis was presented with a cheque ahead of Saturday’s Championship match versus Toulouse Olympique joined by some of the Foundation’s current crop of youngsters.
The Community Champions scheme is open to all local charities, schools and community groups, with £180,000 being awarded every quarter. Successful winners receive either £6,000, £5,000 or £1,000.
York RLFC Foundation Delivery Manager Adam Prentis said on the donation: "I would like to thank Persimmon Yorkshire whole heartedly for their support shown through approving the funding application.
"This is yet another step forward for the Foundation to enhance what we are able to offer to the local community.
"The Foundation has come a long way in recent years and continues to grow by adding new programmes and strengthening existing projects.
"The support of Persimmon allows us to continue to grow our outreach programme and give more youngsters the opportunity to develop on our pathway.
"We remain as committed as ever in supporting our local community to access a wide range of high-quality programmes and this Persimmon funding aids our objective."
Persimmon Yorkshire Managing Director Scott Waters said: “We’re delighted to be able to support the York RLFC Foundation here in our home city of York.
“The York RLFC Foundation plays an important role in helping local young people get active and so it was great to meet some of the young Foundation players and hear their enthusiasm for the sport.
“We hope this contribution will help the Club's Foundation continue to go from strength to strength in delivering the fantastic opportunities they provide young boys and girls right across York.”
