Young couple secures dream home thanks to Help to Buy scheme

A young couple from Suffolk secured their dream home in Capel St Mary thanks to the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.
Ella, who works for a local science company, and construction worker Max said they can’t recommend the Government’s Help to Buy scheme enough as it helped them to achieve their dream home.
“We had viewed various properties by other housebuilders in the Capel St Mary area, but when we saw the Hanbury style property from Persimmon, we were sold.” Max said.
“We had always loved the idea of a new build and the location worked perfectly for us both.
“Without the Help to Buy scheme, we would never have been able to purchase our dream home so we were over the moon to find that this was available for us, and we couldn’t have been more grateful.”
Ella said the couple had been saving money for a long time but when looking at other properties they were falling just short. However, with the Government’s Help to Buy initiative, they were able to put down more than the five per cent deposit required.
“Our house is just beautiful. The area is so lovely, and we have settled in quickly. Max coaches a local football team and a lot of the parents live nearby so they have been looking out for us which is nice.
“Persimmon have been really helpful throughout the whole process and the Help to Buy scheme has been a lifesaver for us. It has allowed us to buy the property we have always dreamt of, and I would 110% recommend it to any young people looking to get on the property ladder.”
Max and Ella also purchased some 'finishing touches’ to personalize the house while it was being built and said they were most excited to see their kitchen once finished.
Help to Buy allows first time buyers in East Anglia to purchase a new home worth up to £407,400 with just a 5% deposit and a mortgage of up to 75% of the value. An interest-free equity loan from the Government then covers the rest of the balance.
Lucy Woodhall, sales director for Persimmon Suffolk, said she is delighted that the young couple have found the Help to Buy scheme so useful.
“Help to Buy has proved itself to be a very attractive initiative to young couples across the area. It’s helped to make homes more affordable than ever before.
“Buying your first home is so exciting and it has been great to welcome both Max and Ella to Samford Gardens. We are sure that they will create many happy memories during their years here.”
Samford Gardens features a collection of two, three, four and five-bedroom houses with prices currently starting from £350,000 for their three bedroom detached homes.
Located in the village of Capel St Mary, the development is within walking distance of many local amenities as well as perfect for those who need to commute into Ipswich or Colchester.
