Funds will help social club entertain the over 70s

A Liverpool social club that caters for the over 70s has received £1,000.

Haig House Social Club in Garson was awarded the donation by Persimmon Homes North West through its Community Champions scheme.

Trevor Moore, from the club, said: “Over the course of the year we offer a number of weekly events for elderly people in our community, as well as putting on annual and one-off events.”

“Normally, these include weekly coffee mornings and bingo evenings with day trips over the summer months; Christmas dinner with entertainment, and two or three times a year we do a Friday night entertainment night with a meal.”

“We work really hard to support the over 70s, and thanks to Persimmon, this grant will help us a lot and keep our good work going post-Covid.”

Dave Hodgson, Sales Director for Persimmon Homes North West, said: “These have been difficult times for everyone and we are delighted that our donations through the Community Champions scheme are being put to such good use.”
