A youth mentoring project in Burton upon Trent has received a £1,000 cash injection from us.
The Eagle’s Nest Project at Burton Albion Community Hub is the latest recipient of Community Champions funding from our North Midlands region. The initiative supports groups and charities across the region working to improve the quality of life or environment.
The charity, which supports young people struggling to get on well at secondary school, will use the donation to cover the training of mentors and a monthly allowance to support mentoring sessions. Jan Appleton, from the charity, said: “Our mentoring project trains volunteers from the community to come and work alongside a young person for an hour per week over a 12 month period to give them stability and a trusted adult who has the time to listen and help build confidence and aspirations. We’re delighted to get the support of Persimmon Homes North Midlands to help us continue our work in the community.”
Nadine O’Dowd, sales director, said: “The Eagle’s Nest Project does such amazing work with the young people in the community and we are proud to be able to support them with our Community Champion donation. Every month we have amazing applications from across the region. If you have been unsuccessful previously, we encourage you to reapply and you could be our next recipient.”
