Northampton athletes celebrate £1,000 boost

A Northampton sports club has received a £1,000 windfall courtesy of a Persimmon Midlands.

The regional team selected Northampton Water Polo Club to receive the donation through the Community Champions scheme, which supports grassroots groups and charities in areas where the company is building.

Claire Dearsley, sales director for Persimmon Midlands, said: “At a time like this, when voluntary groups, sports clubs and charities are not able to hold their usual fundraising events, we are proud to help worthy local causes.

“We are always keen to support clubs like Northampton Water Polo Club, that encourage healthy, active lifestyles.”

Established in 2012, Northampton Water Polo Club encourages local young people to develop sport as an integral part of their physical, mental and social wellbeing. The club is fundraising to cover minibus repairs, league fees and coaching courses.

Persimmon Homes Midlands makes two donations of up to £1,000 every month. The online application form can be found at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity
