Nottingham’s s cash helps Gedling primary school library project

A Gedling primary school is set to transform its outdoor lodge into a dedicated reading sanctuary, following a donation from Nottingham.

Willow Farm Primary School, in Gedling, received £1,000 from our Community Champions scheme and plans to convert its outdoor space into a library.

Head teacher Lindsey Jamson said: “This is wonderful news for our pupils. We currently do not have a dedicated library and want to create a peaceful space where children can focus on their reading, away from the noise of the main school.

“Persimmon Homes’ donation will help to fund the conversion of our existing outdoor lodge. The reading area will include soft seating and educational games as well as an extensive collection of books.

“This is an exciting project, and we are very grateful to Persimmon Homes for helping us to get it started.”

Each of our 31 regional businesses make two donations of up to £1,000 every month to grassroots groups and charities across the region.

Neil Follows, managing director of Nottingham, said: “Our Community Champion scheme is all about supporting our local area and helping a school to create a library is a wonderful cause to assist.”

In addition to our Community Champions scheme, We have launched its Building Futures initiative which supports groups working with under-18s. The scheme will make grants to projects across education & arts, health and sport, with the potential of a £100,000 prize giveaway.
