A village hall on the outskirts of Cardiff hit by a hefty repairs bill has been lent a helping hand from a local business.
Pentyrch Village Hall needed significant structural improvements to the roof and walls, costing in the region of £11,000.
Hall bosses have been unable to raise money as they usually would through things like concerts and fairs due to the pandemic, leaving a financial hole.
Persimmon Homes East Wales has chipped in with a £1,000 grant.
The funding comes as part of Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative, which sees 64 good causes across Great Britain awarded up to £1,000 every month.
Huw Williams, treasurer of the hall, said: “We’re really grateful to Persimmon for their support. The hall desperately needed this work, but our fundraising activities have been heavily curtailed by the pandemic.
“The hall is the heartbeat of the village. It’s fantastic that Persimmon is so willing to get involved with the local community.”
Victoria Williams, sales director at Persimmon Homes East Wales, said: “We are delighted to be able to support Pentyrch Village Hall
“It’s important that people have places to meet and engage in activities. Halls like this are an important part of the community.”
Persimmon Homes is currently building stunning one, two and three-bedroom homes at its nearby The Parish @ Llanilltern Village development in Creigiau.
