A national appeal providing laptops for the most disadvantaged children across the UK has received a £250,000 boost from Persimmon Homes.
The campaign, spearheaded by the Daily Mail, has raised more than £10 million from celebrities, businesses and individuals to fund new and refurbished tech and ensure all children get the education they deserve.
Persimmon’s group chief executive Dean Finch said: “As the lockdown has gone on, we have all become increasingly concerned about the impact of missed education on children.”
“It has been remarkable how quickly so many schools and children have adapted to online learning during the pandemic.”
“But that only makes the divide between those who have the right equipment and those who don't more concerning.”
Mr Finch added: “That's why at Persimmon we are so happy to support the Mail's campaign and do our bit to make sure every child in the country has access to the equipment they need.”
A celebrity video in support of the Mail Force campaign has already been viewed by more than 115 million people.
Anyone interested in helping to combat isolation for the most vulnerable children in the UK can text KIDS10 to 70115 to donate £10 to the fund.
Persimmon Homes also runs a national Community Champions funding scheme which makes 64 donations of up to £1,000 every month to grassroots clubs, local charities, schools and voluntary groups in the areas where the company is building.
