Persimmon Homes Yorkshire donated £10,000 to Scarborough charities and community groups last year and is urging more good causes to get in touch.
The Persimmon Homes Community Champions fund supports grassroots activities that improve the quality of life for local people. The scheme enables charities, community groups and schools to apply for funding up to the value of £1,000.
The Andrew McGeown Legacy Fund, which supports Scarborough’s youth swimming project Swimsafe; family support charity, Edgehill Community Association; Cayton Bowling Club; and The Friends of Scarborough Valley Gardens were all beneficiaries of the scheme last year, each receiving £1,000.
In addition, The Wave Project, that uses surf therapy for young people experiencing mental health concerns was awarded £1,000; and Just ‘B’ bereavement support service, provided by Saint Michael’s Hospice care charity received £5,000 from Persimmon Homes Building Futures campaign, which focused on groups working with under-18’s.

Persimmon Homes is currently building 64 homes on Church Lane at its Cayton Meadows development and believes it is important to support the local community.
Scott Waters, managing director for Persimmon Homes Yorkshire, said: “We launched our Community Champions scheme in 2015 and are very pleased to have been able to support so many deserving causes over the years.
“Many of these worthy charities, groups and schools are continuing their work through such challenging times, and with reduced funding support, so we would like to encourage more Scarborough good causes to apply online to our scheme.”
The company makes two donations of up to £1,000 every month and the online application to the Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme can be found at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity
