Support for hospice services

Persimmon South Coast has pledged £1,000 to support Salisbury Hospice Charity.

The funding comes from the Community Champions scheme, which provides donations to charities, schools, clubs and voluntary organisations.

Paula Flower, head of fundraising for Salisbury Hospice Charity said: “Every year we need to raise £1.5 million to support core hospice services, delivered free of charge to almost 1,000 local patients and their families, who may be cared for either in their own homes or through non-residential and inpatient services at the hospice.”

“The funds raised enable the hospice to continue to offer nursing and medical care, emotional and practical support, welfare advice, occupational and physiotherapy, complementary therapies, spiritual care and creative activities.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has reduced the charity’s income by some £200,000 due to cancelled fundraising events. Persimmon’s funding will help to support end of life services to patients across Wiltshire, Hampshire and into Dorset. For more information on the charity visit www.salisburyhospicecharity.org.uk

Persimmon South Coast managing director Matt Paine added: “At a time when demand for services is greater than ever, good causes like Salisbury Hospice Charity are really suffering from a funding shortfall, so we are proud to help.”

“Our Community Champions scheme was set up to support the grassroots teams, small charities, schools and voluntary groups across our region, providing two donations of up to £1,000 every month. Any local organisation in need of funding can apply through a simple online form on the Persimmon Homes website.”
