Cash boost for cancer charity

A cancer support charity in Chichester is celebrating after receiving a £1,000 cash boost from Persimmon South Coast.

CancerWise, which provides counselling and complementary therapies for cancer patients and their families, was awarded the grant after successfully applying to the Community Champions scheme.

The charity also provides a support centre in Chichester, where clients can attend support groups, as well as art and book clubs.

Sam Lyons, centre co-ordinator at CancerWise said: “We are so grateful for the funding from Persimmon South Coast as we rely on donations and grants to be able to provide these much-needed services for our clients.

“We are unique in that we provide unlimited and specialist support for individuals who are going through cancer and, with the help of companies such as Persimmon, we are able to support our clients for as long as they need us.”

South Coast director in charge Joe Lindsay added: “Our Community Champions scheme allows us to award donations of up to £1,000 to two local charities or good causes each month.

“CancerWise is an important line of support for so many and there is nothing more rewarding than to see the money we have donated making a huge difference to the lives of local people.

We are encouraging more charities alike to apply for funding by completing the simple form
