Two projects supporting young people in Suffolk have received £1,000 cash boosts from the Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme.

Haverhill’s Little Wonders Pre-School and Sir Bobby Robson School in Ipswich are the latest good causes to receive funding through the programme, which aims to support grassroots organisations in the areas where Persimmon is building.

Managing director Ian Hamilton said: “The ongoing uncertainties of the pandemic continue to impact our young people and the fundraising that normally provides additional learning and play resources for them.

“We are proud that, through the Community Champions scheme, we are able to support organisations across Suffolk like Little Wonders and Sir Bobby Robson School, helping them to deliver projects that enhance the lives of local people.”

Charity-based Little Wonders Pre-School has been established for more than 50 years. Persimmon’s funding will help towards the development of its outside play area with an all-weather surface to enable its children to enjoy a healthy active lifestyle.

The Sir Bobby Robson School provides specialist support for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs and autism. The donation from Persimmon Homes will enable the brand-new, purpose-built school to fill its library shelves with books to inspire and engage the students.

Persimmon Suffolk, based in Great Blakenham, provides financial support for two local charities and good causes each month, through its Community Champions programme.

Ian Hamilton added: “There are so many amazing organisations helping to make a genuine difference to the people living in Suffolk, so we would encourage schools, sports clubs, small charities and voluntary groups to complete the simple online application form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity to be in with a chance of securing £1,000 of funding for their own projects.”
