A charity which provides activities and support for young people facing challenges across Gloucestershire has been handed a grant from Persimmon.

Youth workers at Brendan’s Bridge walk the streets of areas facing high levels of socio-economic deprivation to meet young people and engage with them through sports, arts or games.

The charity has been backed by a £1,000 gift from us through our Community Champions scheme.

Jane Dyer, of Brendan’s Bridge, said: “We engage with young people right there on the streets where we meet them.

“We encourage the young people to get involved in positive activities and reconnect them with their communities.

“This generous donation from Persimmon Homes will support the work we do in helping young people to be active, have healthy fun and distract them away from getting involved in crime or becoming victims to criminals.”

Carly Spear, Sales Director at Severn Valley, said: “We’re delighted to be able to support Brendan’s Bridge with this money.

“Everyone knows that youth services have been cut in recent decades, leaving the charity sector to pick up the baton. Brendan’s Bridge are doing amazing work in giving these young people meaningful and enjoyable activities to do.”

We are currently building new homes at Yew Tree Gardens in Tuffley and Canonbury Rise in Berkeley.
