A charity that provides inspiring multi-arts experiences for people in the Midlands and beyond has received a major cash boost.

West Midlands has awarded Lichfield Festival a £1,000 grant as it continues to support local groups and charities in the area.

We've donated up to £64,000 a month to fund initiatives as part of the highly successful Community Champions scheme.

The charity inspires creativity through performance and participation, with diverse events ranging from dance to drama, classical music to comedy and folk to family workshops.

Alongside ticketed events, it also runs a full programme of free events and Aspire! - a year-round learning and participation programme in schools and the community.

Caroline King, from the charity, said: “Thank you Persimmon Homes, this news couldn’t have come at a better time as we build up to our 40th anniversary event in July.

“This year our flagship ASPIRE! learning and participation event ‘Lichfield Dances’ will increase accessibility to the Arts offering free, participatory dance workshops to the public, and 27 workshops to local schools, who will then be given the opportunity to perform, increasing creativity, confidence and well-being.

“We are passionate about nurturing young talent: our Young Artists and Young Critics series give opportunities to young performers and writers.

“This grant will help us run ASPIRE! and contribute towards revenue expenditure including venue, artist and staff costs so it’s a massive boost.”
