Tuffley Guides ready to get crafty after grant boost

A Guides group in Tuffley is looking ahead to new activities this year – thanks to a grant from Persimmon.

6th Gloucester Guides, which meets at St George''s Church Hall on Grange Road, has received £600 through our Community Champions scheme.

Each and every month we donate up to £64,000 to good causes across the UK.

Gail Wager, of 6th Gloucester Guides, said: “We are thrilled to receive this generous funding from Persimmon Homes.

“During the pandemic we continued to meet virtually but we didn’t charge a weekly subscription.

“We are now back meeting face-to-face but our craft supplies have been depleted. We need paper, card, craft materials and ink cartridges.

“We’d also like to have a banner to advertise ourselves and we’d like to invite a speaker to talk to the girls about cyber bullying and internet safety.

“These funds will help us with those activities in the months to come.”

Carly Spear, Sales Director at Severn Valley, said: “Guides is a great organisation and we’re pleased to support this group.

“We are currently building in Tuffley at our Yew Tree Gardens development so it’s brilliant to be able to support the community in that area. That is what Community Champions is all about.”
