West Midlands region gives £1,000 cash boost to Stoke-on-Trent community café

A new community café based just outside Stoke-on-Trent has secured a donation from our West Midlands region.

Café Indi was recently opened by Helping Angels Charitable Association – a Staffordshire-based organisation supporting vulnerable adults, children and their families to reach their full potential. Helping Angels received the £1,000 donation from the our West Midlands region as part of its Community Champions initiative, helping to leave a lasting legacy in the communities it builds its homes.

Café Indi provides inclusive work placements and volunteering opportunities to adults and young people who are looking to gain experience in hospitality; allowing them to gain confidence, enhance their life skills and to help them transition into paid employment.

Natasha Gratton, CEO at Helping Angels Charitable Association, said: “This is an amazing new venture for the charity at a time when fundraising is nearing impossible. We are trying something very new and trying to build up a trading income for the charity as an added income stream to support our sustainability plan – it’s thanks to kind donations like these that we are able to branch out, making new and exciting ideas a reality.”

David Greengrass, Sales Director at West Midlands region, said: “What we do is about much more than just building homes, it’s about leaving a lasting positive legacy in the communities that we build in. We’re always delighted to lend a hand to local community groups to boost their ongoing initiatives or contribute to causes that mean a lot to them.”

“It’s great to see that our donation will help to establish Helping Angels’ new venture, I wish them all the very best as Café Indi undoubtedly goes from strength to strength!”
