A primary school in Towcester has had a creative start to the year, thanks to a colouring competition run by our Midlands region.

Pupils at Marie Weller Primary School – based near The Furlongs development in Towcester – were tasked with bringing life to a number of designs, using materials donated by the team – including crayons and coloured pencils.

The entries were judged by the Midlands team, with the ceremony marked by a visit to the school and a tour around one of the site’s diggers. The judges were blown away by the imagination and creativity shown by the pupils – gifting a book voucher to the school and a small gift to each child to thank them for taking part.

Andrea Curtis, Executive Principal at Marie Weller Primary School, said: “We are very grateful to Persimmon Homes for allowing our pupils the opportunity to get creative, learn some more about construction and for the kind donation of a book voucher which will help to further stock our school library.”

“At Marie Weller, we are passionate about our children gaining an understanding of the world through a range of means – including academic, artistic and extra-curricular.  Thank you to Persimmon Homes for visiting us and we look forward to the completion of our school grounds and subsequent official opening.”

Claire Dearsley, Sales Director at Midlands, said: “What we do is about much more than just building homes, it’s about leaving a lasting positive legacy in the communities that we build in. We’re always delighted to work with local schools and community groups to boost their ongoing initiatives and help get their creativity flowing.

“It was great to pay a visit to Marie Weller Primary and see so much artistic talent. We look forward to seeing the book vouchers put to good use!”
