The North Midlands team took on a 10K race on the grounds of the Garendon Park estate in Loughborough, raising almost £1,600 for Heart Link Children’s Charity.
The North Midlands team has supported the Garendon Gallop since 2021, helping the race to boost its profile regionally. Hosted at Garendon Park – where we’re currently developing its community of over 3,000 homes – this year’s race took place on Sunday 30th July and attracted beginners, local club runners and regional elite athletes alike since its inception in 2019.
As part of this year’s event, we worked with Team GB to help attract more runners to Garendon Park for the race, with sprinter Ashleigh Nelson attending the race to support the runners.
Ashleigh Nelson, Team GB sprinter, said: “Watching the runners at the Garendon Gallop was incredible and has left me truly inspired. It was great to meet the Persimmon Homes team, and they all did such a great job raising funds for Heart Link Children’s Charity. The whole atmosphere was 10/10.”
George Clarke, Director at Start2Finish Events, said: “We’re delighted to have had the support of the Persimmon team for another year of the Garendon Gallop. The race has gone from strength to strength since we re-launched after the pandemic, so to know we have the backing of local businesses located close to the event is a huge boost. A massive well done to the Persimmon team who took on the course, raising funds for Heart Link Children’s Charity.”
Dan Endersby, Managing Director at North Midlands region, said: “We’re proud to have supported the Garendon Gallop for the third year running. Each year, the race showcases the best of regional athletics and allows the Persimmon team the opportunity to take on a physical challenge for a great cause.”
