A ladies football team in Matlock has received a cash boost to help its players look the part on the pitch, thanks to our Nottingham team.

Matlock Town Ladies FC received a £2,000 donation as part of our Community Champions initiative. The funds will be used to purchase equipment for the team – such as goals, bibs and tops, as well as help to fund a venue for the team to train at.

A spokesperson for Matlock Town Ladies FC said: “We’re absolutely delighted by this kind donation from Persimmon Homes. Our goal has always been to create an inclusive community which unites over playing football, with the hope of setting up a second session to promote the benefits of exercise on mental health.

“The money that Persimmon has kindly gifted us has gone towards much needed kit for the club, and we couldn’t be more grateful.”

Gareth Hankin, Managing Director at Persimmon Homes Nottingham, said: “We’re delighted to show our support to Matlock Town Ladies FC. What we do is about much more than just building homes, it’s about leaving a lasting positive legacy in the communities that we build in. We’re always delighted to lend a hand to local sports groups to boost their ongoing initiatives or contribute to causes that mean a lot to them.”
