We have donated £1,000 to Suffolk Sister Solace, a community organisation that supports Global Majority women from Suffolk.
The funding has been awarded through the Suffolk region’s Community Champions fund, which supports charities, voluntary groups and community organisations making a positive difference in the areas they are building.
Founded by Mahjabin Anwar, Suffolk Sister Solace was established to provide a welcoming space where women can come together to share experiences, build confidence and support one another. The organisation hosts monthly meet-ups that encourage networking and mutual support, while helping women from underrepresented backgrounds to develop a stronger collective voice within their community.
Mahjabin Anwar, Founder and Director of Suffolk Sister Solace, said: "Suffolk Sister Solace was created to ensure women have a safe and supportive space where they can connect with others who understand their experiences.
"While Suffolk is a wonderful place to live, some women still experience feelings of isolation, loneliness and racism. Our monthly meet-ups provide an opportunity to build friendships, share experiences and have a safe space to be themselves. We are incredibly grateful to Persimmon Homes Suffolk for this donation, which will help us continue supporting women across the county."
The donation will help the organisation continue delivering its programme of events and activities.
Gary Lee, Technical Director at Persimmon Homes Suffolk, said: "At Persimmon Homes Suffolk, we are committed to supporting organisations that help bring people together and create stronger communities.
"Suffolk Sister Solace provides an important network for its members, and we are delighted to support its work through our Community Champions programme."
Persimmon Homes Suffolk is currently selling homes at sites across the county including Trelawny Place, Felixstowe, Aldhurst View, Leiston and Constable Vale, Hadleigh.
