Persimmon Homes Severn Valley donation of Clevedon’s young footballers

Persimmon Homes Severn Valley has donated £1,000 to Swiss Valley Rangers’ under sevens side.

Portishead-based Persimmon Homes Severn Valley chose the team as the latest winners of its Community Champions funding pot, which sees £700,000 donated to good causes and much-valued organisations across Britain each year.

The players will benefit from new equipment and kits as a result of the funding from the accredited five-star developer.

The club, founded in 2000, has seen its membership treble since 2018. They field teams ranging from Under 5’s through to Under 18s, as well as male and female adult sides.

Its catchment area covers the Gordano Valley including Portishead and Clevedon, with reach across North Somerset.

Swiss Valley Rangers U7s join the growing list of local recipients of Community Champions funding, which now includes Portishead FC, Backwell Junior FC Girls, and Weston RFC. Persimmon has sites across North Somerset, with high-quality homes for sale in Backwell, Weston-super-Mare, and Yatton.

Commenting, Persimmon Homes Severn Valley Sales Director Carly Spear said:

“We are delighted to support Swiss Valley Ranger’s Under Sevens side through our Community Champions scheme. Youth sports clubs like this one play a vital role in promoting teamwork, confidence, and community spirit among young people.

“As a company that is based in Portishead and delivering homes in towns and villages across Severn Valley, it’s especially meaningful for us to give back to the local community and help the next generation of young players flourish.”

Ashley Chapman, Manager of Swiss Valley Rangers Under Sevens, added:

“We are incredibly grateful to Persimmon for supporting our young players through their Community Champions programme.

“This £1,000 donation will make a real difference to our Under Sevens team by helping us purchase new training equipment that will keep our sessions fun, engaging and will help the children develop their skills.

“Grassroots football relies on support like this, so we’re very thankful.”
