There are no less than thirteen primary schools in the town and its suburbs, including eight Church of England schools, one Roman Catholic school, and four non-denominational state schools. The Chase School is a secondary school that serves the local area. With around 1,300 pupils, it's a specialist Technology, Language and Science college under the specialist schools programme.
