It’s just a short stroll over the river from Backbridge Farm to the bustling town centre. There, you'll find historical gems, including the market cross and the Abbey, alongside a good selection of independent boutiques, shops and cafes.

There are excellent pubs and restaurants in the town centre too, including the famous Old Bell. When it comes to day-to-day essentials, Malmesbury is well-equipped, with two Co-op Foods, an Aldi and Waitrose, along with a primary care centre, dentists, optician and pharmacy.

Beautiful surroundings

Lovers of the outdoors will find plenty to do whilst living at Backbridge Farm. The development is set next to the River Avon, which winds around the town centre and past the Abbey, providing a peaceful walk.

The elegant Abbey House Gardens are well worth a visit, comprising of five acres of formal gardens, lawns and riverside glades. Or, to explore slightly further afield, you could get lost in nature at nearby Westonbirt Arboretum or try water sports at Cotswold Water Park.

Handy transport links

Though Backbridge Farm enjoys a semi-rural location, there are good road links to nearby commercial hotspots with excellent opportunities. Malmesbury is located just off the A429, with easy routes north to Cirencester and south to Chippenham. It's only 6.6 miles from Junction 17 of the M4, making travel a breeze.

From there, you can travel east to Swindon in around 20 minutes, or west to Bristol city centre in 30 minutes. The nearest train station is Kemble (15 minutes by car) or Chippenham (20 minutes). Chippenham operates regular trains to Bristol and London.
