The Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust (AFCCT) has received a £6,000 donation from Persimmon Homes.

Communities across Aberdeen are set to benefit from new opportunities in sport and education thanks to a £6,000 donation from Persimmon North Scotland region to the Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust.

The funding will support AFCCT’s programmes, which provide inclusive activities for people of all ages, promoting physical and mental well-being while fostering a strong sense of community.

Staff and volunteers at AFCCT were delighted to be recognised as a beneficiary of Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative – which supports charities and community organisations in the areas where the homebuilder operates. Over the past five years, the scheme has donated more than £360,000 to good causes across Scotland.

Kevin Stewart, MSP for Aberdeen Central, joined Persimmon North Scotland to hand over the cheque to the Trust, acknowledging the positive impact of its work.

Kevin Stewart, MSP for Aberdeen Central, said:

“I’m delighted to be handing over this £6,000 cheque from Persimmon North Scotland today to help support the Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust.

“The Trust does a power of work in our communities, helping people of all ages improve their health, wellbeing and education, and working with other organisations to reduce poverty and inequality.

“Hats off to Persimmon North Scotland for this generation donation, which I know will be put to excellent use by the Trust.”

James MacKay, Managing Director of Persimmon North Scotland, said:

“We are proud to support the fantastic work of the Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust. The Trust provides invaluable opportunities that benefit people across Aberdeen, and we are delighted to contribute to their efforts.

“Persimmon is committed to investing in the communities where we build, and we look forward to continuing our support across the North East.”

Duncan Peter, AFCCT Business Development & Partnership Manager, said:

The investment in the work of Aberdeen FC Community Trust by Persimmon Homes is very welcome and we are delighted to be able to partner with them as they expand their presence in the North East. I look forward to engaging with the Persimmon’s team in the coming months and demonstrate the impact their support will have on the individuals and families we work with.”

Persimmon North Scotland recently announced plans to build 40 new homes at Strabathie Village in Aberdeenshire. That development is part of a broader investment plan by Persimmon across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, with plans already lodged for 333 new homes on the site of the former Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre in Aberdeen.
