Building team tackles triathlon challenge

Staff from Persimmon North West have helped to raise more than £22,000 for charity by tackling one of the UK’s biggest triathlon events.
Two teams were sponsored by their employer to compete in the JLL Property Triathlon in Media City Salford Quays.
The event, which attracted competitors from across the North, raised funds for the Starlight Children’s Foundation and hospital charity, The Christie. Now into its ninth year, the JLL Property Triathlon is firmly established as one of the UK’s top five largest triathlons and has so far raised £1.3 million for charity.
Shirley Anderson, part exchange co-ordinator for Persimmon Homes, said: “We entered two teams into the event, with employees from our land department, planning department and the sales team taking part.
“This sprint triathlon requires you to complete a 750m swim, 21km cycle and a 5km run, in a relay team, so six of us were able to get involved.”
The two teams taking part from Persimmon North West comprised Shirley Anderson, Lottie Swindlehurst, Jamie Soughton, Bobby Williams, Sean McBride and Niall Mellan. All are based at the company’s regional headquarters in Urmston.
Persimmon sales director David Hodgson added: “We are very proud of our runners, cyclists and swimmers for the effort they put in, training and taking part in this triathlon. As a company we are keen to give something back to the communities where we build.”
“Along with support for our chosen charity of the year, The Joshua Tree, we operate a Community Champions match-funding scheme which makes two donations of up to £1,000 every month.
