Cefn Glas homes set to go on sale
12 July 2021
The first of 127 new homes in Bridgend are set to be released for sale later this year, after the builder behind the scheme started work on the associated roads.
Persimmon Homes West Wales is preparing to start construction at its Llys Ystrad development at the former Ysgol Bryn Castell site on Llangewydd Road in Cefn Glas.
The school was demolished in 2015 and has been unused since.
Roadworks are now underway, with the first homes due to be released for sale later in 2021.
Llys Ystrad will be made up of a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes, perfect for first-time buyers and growing families.
Househunters are able to register an interest in the properties and will be alerted as soon as they are available to reserve.
Sharon Bouhali, sales director at Persimmon Homes West Wales, said: “We are delighted to be at the stage where we are preparing to start selling at Llys Ystrad.
“This development will revitalise a disused area and provide much-needed houses to the area.
“We are confident that this development will prove to be extremely popular with househunters, and more than 100 people have already registered an interest in living here.”
Persimmon is providing more than £500,000 towards the provision of secondary school and post-16 places serving the development.
In addition, the development will provide a massive boost to the local economy through the construction industry and its multiplier effect. According to research by the Home Builders Federation, for every £1 spent on housing £3 goes back into the economy and each home built creates 1.5 full time direct jobs. It is also estimated that at least twice that number of jobs is created in the supply chain.
