Community cash for Cumbrian charity
13 April 2022

Social activities within a popular Cumbrian village hall are recovering from the impact of the pandemic thanks, in part, to a cash boost from Persimmon Lancashire.
St Bees Village Hall Management Committee was awarded £1,000 towards purchasing new furniture for the village hall through the Community Champions initiative.
The charity hosts parties and fundraising events as well as putting on activities such as exercise classes for the local community. The donation from Persimmon will allow them to host more events for a wider group of residents.
Claire Hale, who applied for the funding said: “Since re-opening after the covid lockdowns we would like to encourage more local residents, particularly older members of the community, to return to the hall and enjoy face-to-face company again.
“We know there is demand for ‘coffee shop’ style socialising and for card games which our residents would benefit from. The donation from Persimmon will allow us to purchase suitable tables for this, so thank you.”
Sales director Diane Finch said: “We are delighted that we can support St Bees Village Hall Management Committee. We are always keen to support the local communities where we build, helping them to continue to grow.”
Persimmon Lancashire donates up to £1,000 each month to two deserving charities and good causes across the region. The company is encouraging more local groups to apply online via its website.
