Contract signed with housing developer for Trowbridge site
17 June 2025

The developer behind the Highfield Gardens development in Hilperton, Trowbridge and a local housing association have marked their deal to deliver homes on the site.
Persimmon Homes Wessex and Selwood Housing have exchanged contracts on 20 high-quality zero-carbon-ready properties that the former will hand over to the latter, once complete, to alleviate local housing pressure in Wiltshire.
Of the 20 homes going to Selwood Housing on the site off Elizabeth Way, 12 will be for affordable rent, while eight will be for shared ownership.
All 68 homes will be equipped with solar panels and electric vehicle charging points, while the site also includes public open space, a children's play area, and a cycling link connecting Middle Lane with Hilperton Road, reflecting the commitment to eco-friendly living.
Over £1m in Section 106 contributions will support the expansion of local schools, off-site highways improvements, off-site biodiversity enhancement, and upgrading of facilities at Hilperton Village Hall, including the retention of a public footpath through the development.
The accredited five-star housebuilder currently has two and three-bed homes available to purchase on the open market at Highfield Gardens from £294,500.
Persimmon donates £700,000 each year to good causes and much-valued organisations across Britain each year as part of its Community Champions scheme. Recent local recipients include the Chippenham Teen Takeover, Doorway Wiltshire, and Julia's House Children's Hospice.
Seb Spiller, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes Wessex, said “Persimmon is determined to leave a positive community legacy where we build, and an integral element of our offering is the transfer of quality new homes to local housing association partners.
“We are delighted to have exchanged contracts on this initial tranche of houses at our forthcoming Trowbridge site, Highfield Gardens, and we hope this significant community contribution will help alleviate pressure on the local housing list. We are pleased to partner with Selwood Housing once more to deliver this increase in provision for the people of Wiltshire as we make progress to bring this site to fruition.”
Paul Walsh, Group Development Director for Selwood Housing, added “We’re delighted to be extending our work with Persimmon, with whom we have affordable housing deals on many sites. Selwood Housing will soon have 20 new homes here at Highfield Gardens, helping deliver secure homes for local people in Trowbridge.
“We’re proud to be offering affordable home options across a range of properties to support families and individuals with diverse housing needs. This includes shared ownership, which helps local people onto the housing ladder. Highfield Gardens reflects Selwood Housing’s commitment to providing local affordable homes and revitalising our local communities.”
