Cricket club bowled over

Staff from Persimmon Homes presented players from Sessay Cricket Club in Thirsk with a trophy for winning the quarter final round of this year’s Village Cup.
To mark its commitment and sponsorship of the UK’s prestigious village cricket competition, now known as The Persimmon Village Cup 2011, staff from Persimmon attended the match on Sunday to present the team with the celebratory trophy which will take pride of place in the pavilion.
Andrew Bowes, managing director from Persimmon Homes Yorkshire said: “We are committed to supporting the communities in which we build and I was really pleased to be invited to present the trophy to Sessay Cricket Club. The team has done really well to reach the quarter final round and I’d like to wish them the best of luck for the next stage of the competition - the semi finals.”
The Persimmon Village Cup 2011 - is the principal cup competition for village cricket clubs in the UK. It launched in 1972, the same year Persimmon formed as a company, to promote village cricket and gives amateur players in 286 teams the chance to compete at a national event at Lord’s.
