Persimmon Homes

Design inspiration for children’s room

03 March 2021

Designing a child’s bedroom that your little ones will love now, and for years to come, should be a fun experience, but when faced with a completely blank canvas in a new build home, it can be a little daunting.

Show homes provide a unique opportunity to see first-hand how decorating ideas can become a practical reality.

In line with recent Government guidance, Persimmon Homes shows homes have remained open, but all viewings must be booked in advance, for the protection of both customers and sales teams.

So, for greater ease, the West Yorkshire team create virtual tours of their show homes, so you can immerse yourself into a decorating sanctuary bursting with inspiration, without even leaving your home.

Why not take a look at the Leeds-based team’s favourite children bedroom designs?

At Calder Grange, Dewsbury, the less-is-more design approach was taken. This simple décor and white furnishing and wall with a dash of pastel blue clouds create a sense of space to play, while tall cupboards with open shelves allows places for personal treasures and clothing. The neutral design offers versatility to can easily be updated as the child grows.

Whether it’s a tent, playhouse or simply a blanket over two chairs, children love a den. It is their own personal space to hide so, at Cote Farm in Bradford, a themed bed replicating a wooden cabin is sure to be a winner. Adding to that feeling of wonder are walls of butterflies with a blind and cushion in complementary fabrics bringing together that dreamy faraway place.

For the slightly older child, the use of fashionably grey tones adds a level of maturity. Carefully incorporating a fresh colour, such a yellow, adds an instant boost. At Manor Grange in Micklefield, a multi-coloured and shaped drawer unit adds an ultimate furniture statement and sense of fun.

For a sense of adventure at Branshaw Park in Keighley, an entire wall was dedicated to a colourful mural of the world, bringing together education, design with a healthy dose of adventure. The clever use of the coloured continents helps to make learning fun and provide an inspiring assortment of colours for soft furnishings and curtains.
