Developer and councillors celebrate Hawthorn Park show home launch

05 August 2025

Persimmon was delighted to welcome county councillors to officially open the new show home at its flagship development in Leominster.

Deputy Leader of Herefordshire Council, Cllr Elissa Swinglehurst, and local member for Leominster West, Cllr Allan Williams, visited Hawthorn Park to mark the milestone and tour the newly completed show home.

The stylish and energy-efficient homes at the 353 - unit site – 88 of which will be transferred to a local housing association – include a range of one to five-bedroom properties.

All homes will come equipped with solar panels as standard, and over £500,000 has been invested in nutrient neutrality measures to ensure no adverse impact on the River Wye or its tributaries.

The development is also contributing £1.8 million to the local community, supporting improvements to education, sports and recycling facilities, local transport, and flood attenuation.

Situated in the heart of Leominster, Hawthorn Park offers easy access to the town’s charming streets, independent shops, schools, supermarkets, and a wide range of amenities.

With its rich medieval heritage, Georgian architecture, and excellent transport links, Leominster is a well-connected and attractive base for families and commuters alike. The Brecon Beacons are under an hour away, with many other Herefordshire attractions close by.

Lee Hawker, Managing Director at Persimmon Homes East Wales, said:

“We’re proud to officially open our show home at Hawthorn Park and showcase the quality and design customers can expect across the site.

“We were delighted to welcome Councillors Swinglehurst and Williams to mark this key moment in the development. We’re committed to delivering high-quality homes for local people and ensuring our work brings long-term benefits to the community.

“With the show home now open, we’re excited to welcome prospective buyers to the site.”

Cllr Elissa Swinglehurst – Deputy Leader of Herefordshire Council and Cabinet Member for the Environment – said:

“It’s fantastic to see the show home completed and ready for visitors. New homes are badly needed in Herefordshire, particularly for younger residents, and this development will make a real difference for Leominster.

“I’m especially pleased to see the environmental focus of the project, which will benefit homeowners through reduced energy bills and a lower carbon footprint.”

Cllr Allan Williams – councillor for Leominster West – added:

“It was great to see the show home open and to get a closer look at the kind of homes being built for our community.

“Persimmon’s ongoing involvement in the local community, including their support for Leominster Town FC, shows a genuine commitment to the town and helps build confidence that this development will have a lasting, positive impact.
