Donation helps Kinross youth charity build brighter futures

A charity working with young people across Kinross-shire has received a funding boost thanks to a donation from our North Scotland region.
Kinross-shire Youth Enterprise (KYTHE) aims to ensure every young person in Kinross-shire is given the opportunities they need to reach their potential. They deliver a range of youth work activities for people aged 11-19 years old, including drop in sessions, after school sessions, youth clubs, and holiday time activities.
Persimmon Homes North Scotland region £1,000 donation, will go towards the charity’s Workshop Skills programme. The programme supports 16-19 year-olds to develop basic, practical woodwork skills, which are transferable and beneficial for future working life. Attendees also earn first aid and health and safety at work certificates.
The money will contribute towards the purchase of a number of new work stations, equipped with woodwork tools. This will create a facility which resembles a real work environment for the young people, enabling them to enjoy new experiences while honing their skills in a number of additional disciplines.
The money has been delivered through Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme, which sees up to £64,000 donated to good causes across the UK every month.
Eileen Rock, Head of Development at KYTHE, said:
“We’re very grateful to Persimmon for this donation, which will make a real difference to the young people on our Workshop Skills programme.
“The participants are often young people who have disengaged from school, employment or training. The sessions have a very practical focus, helping them develop transferable skills for the future and has proven to have a positive impact on confidence levels, social skills and reducing anxiety.
“The donation will allow us to invest in new workstations, making the sessions more enjoyable for the young people and helping them develop a wider range of skills.”
James MacKay, Persimmon North Scotland Managing Director, said:
“The team at KYTHE do some fantastic work supporting young people across Kinross-shire and I’m delighted we’re able to support their Workshop Skills programme with this donation.
“Persimmon is committed to supporting the communities in which we build, which is why we’ve chosen to back this brilliant programme that helps local young people to build confidence and develop their skills.
“By working with the local community, our aim is to ensure Persimmon’s investment across Kinross-shire can deliver real benefits for local people and help make it an even better place to live, work and visit.”
