East Scotland region donates materials to Forth Valley College

Persimmon Homes East Scotland has donated over 3,000 bricks to Forth Valley College to support the next generation of construction workers.

East Scotland region made the donation to Forth Valley College on Friday 23rd June at the college’s Falkirk Campus. Persimmon Homes East Scotland Managing Director, Neil Parry and Regional Apprentice Manager, Ian MacPherson joined staff and students, at the college to present the materials.

The donation of bricks will support construction students studying in Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus. The materials will support the brick laying apprentices attending the college using the bricks to complete training and assessments and create models in the classroom.

Forth Valley College, which has over 600 construction students across 57 courses and attracts students across the Forth Valley. The College is made up of approximately 12,000 students, has more than 600 staff and offers more than 700 courses at its three campuses. Approximately 94% of students successfully progress on to employment or University upon completion of their course at Forth Valley College.

Persimmon Homes, creates more than 1,500 new energy efficient homes across Scotland each year, make their own bricks at their state of the art factory in Doncaster which can produce over 72 million bricks per year – enough to stretch from Falkirk to San Francisco and back again.

Stuart Taylor, Curriculum Manager in the Department of STEM and Construction at Forth Valley College, said:

“We can’t thank Persimmon Homes enough for the donation of these bricks and we want to assure them they will be put to good use to develop our Bricklaying and Construction students, and help them become the best professional tradesmen and women possible. We hope we can build even stronger links with Persimmon Homes in the future, as they are one of the UK’s leading house builders and forging a partnership with them, will help to inspire our Modern Apprentices and Construction students even more.”

Neil Parry, East Scotland region Managing Director, said:
