East Wales region donates to Bluebirds’ charity arm

Cardiff City FC Community Foundation

Our East Wales region in South Wales has donated funds to Cardiff City FC Community Foundation’s activities across the region.

East Wales region handed over a £2,000 cheque on the turf at the Cardiff City Stadium in Canton in late February, after their successful application to Persimmon Homes Community Champions fund.

The Community Foundation is the official charity of Cardiff City FC. Its mission is to use the inspiration of the club to change lives and transform communities and its vision is for people in our communities to achieve their full potential, aiming to improve health and wellbeing, support learning and skills, and build stronger communities.

The funds will go towards CCFCCF’s Inclusive Football programme which is a vital initiative that aims to provide free and inclusive activities for children and young people aged 5 to 25 with various disabilities and impairments across seven local authorities in South East Wales. This includes Blaenau Gwent and Merthyr Tydfil, where currently Persimmon has live sites.

Demand for its Inclusive Football service is evident, engaging with over 800 individuals living with disabilities, marking a 20% increase in one year.

Persimmon has two sites in Cardiff – The Parish in the north-west and St Edeyrns Village in the north-east of the city – delivering hundreds of high-quality homes to meet housing need across the capital, with prices starting there from £249,995 and £269,995, respectively.

Persimmon donates £48,000 to good causes and much-valued organisations across Wales each year as part of its Community Champions initiative. Recent local recipients include Radyr Comprehensive School, Ysgol Glantaf, Pentwyn Dynamos, and Rumney RFC.

Commenting, Victoria Williams – Sales Director for East Wales region – said:

“Persimmon is delighted to help Cardiff City’s Community Foundation with their brilliant and laudable Inclusive Football programme, ensuring that fans of the club across the region can take part in the sport they love, no matter their ability.

“We have a significant presence in Cardiff – at The Parish in Capel Llanilltern and St Edeyrns Village – but we are very active across the same region as the Foundation, all the way up to Merthyr Tydfil and Blaenau Gwent.

“Persimmon is building communities at these developments and we have no idea who the residents of the future will be but, hopefully, in supporting the club’s Community Foundation, they may one day benefit from their work as we leave a positive and lasting legacy there.”

Zac Lyndon-Jones, Head of Community and Development of Cardiff City FC Community Foundation, added:

“We were thrilled that our application to Persimmon’s Community Champions fund had been successful and are very grateful for the donation.

“This money will go a long way in helping Cardiff City Community Foundation itself fulfil its mission, vision, and aims as it reaches out to help those who may not necessarily get the chance to access football, do so.

“Cardiff City FC Community Foundation is proud of its Disability Football programme and its wide geographical reach – we know that support for the Bluebirds does not end at the city limits and we are always very grateful for any help that allows us to continue to bring our work to a wider audience.”
