First affordable homes handed over at North Somerset site

Yatton

The developer behind the Redworthy Orchard development in Yatton has handed over its first homes to a local housing association.

Persimmon Homes Severn Valley have transferred four properties to Alliance Homes, which will help alleviate pressure on North Somerset Council’s housing waiting list.

18 of the 60 high-quality homes due to be built on the site off Moor Road will be going to Alliance. 13 of these will be for social rent, while five will be available for shared ownership.

The accredited five-star housebuilder’s currently has two, three, and four-bed homes available to purchase on the open market at Redworthy Orchard from £300,000. The site’s show home was launched earlier this spring.

Persimmon donates £700,000 each year to good causes and much-valued organisations across Britain each year as part of its Community Champions scheme. Recent local recipients include Yatton Juniors FC, Ashton & Backwell United FC, Bristol Normandy Veterans, St George Easton in Gordano FC, Backwell Playhouse, Portishead Town FC, and Bristol Baby Bank Network.

Claire Burton, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said:

"We are delighted to be working in partnership with Alliance on this significant agreement, which will provide much-needed affordable housing for local people.

“This collaboration highlights our shared commitment to delivering high-quality homes and ensuring that the benefits of this development are felt across the community.

“We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with Alliance to help meet the growing demand for housing in Yatton and the wider area."

Jo Barnard, Project Manager at Alliance Homes, added:

“We are delighted to take handover of these new homes and we look forward to our customers moving in soon. At Alliance, we want to do our bit to tackle the housing crisis and our ambition is to build 2,000 new affordable homes by 2033.

“Our partnership with Persimmon Homes is helping us to deliver much needed high-quality affordable housing, and we look forward to continuing our close working relationship.”
