First residents move in at Sherborne development
25 November 2015
The first residents have moved in at a new development in Sherborne.
Building work is now in full swing at Persimmon Homes’ Corelli scheme – and last week the first new residents received the keys to their new homes.
Jonathan Rodd is enjoying his four bed Chedworth style property, while new neighbour Patricia Woodsford has bought a Clayton style home, a three bedroom end terrace.
Mr Rodd and Mrs Woodsford were presented with a bouquet of flowers from Persimmon Homes to mark the occasion.
Mr Rodd, a 40-year-old primary school teacher, said: “I’m delighted to be in my new home.
I’ve always wanted to live in Sherborne and I knew that these houses were in the pipeline. When they were released I liked what I saw and reserved in April.
The sales team were excellent in keeping me informed about the progress of my house. They were with me every step of the way and were able to answer every query.
I’m really looking forward to seeing this community grow as more people move in.”
Mrs Woodsford, a 64-year-old supermarket worker, said: “I’m delighted to be in my new home. I am Sherborne born and bred so I was pleased when I saw these new homes were coming.
I have moved from rented accommodation and the mortgages repayments here actually work out less each month.”
Marie Abbott, field sales manager at Persimmon Homes South West, said: “It doesn’t matter how long you do this job, it’s always exciting to see the first residents moving in at a new development.
So much planning and preparation goes into these new schemes – then we have the pleasure of watching the buildings rise from the ground before becoming somebody’s home.
We hope that both Jonathan and Patricia enjoy many happy years in their new homes.”
The Corelli development has a mix of two, three, four and five bedroom homes – perfect for first time buyers and families looking for more space.
Once all the phases are complete, the development will consist of 279 , two, three, four and five bedroom homes.
On phase one, consisting of 113 plots, 53 properties have already been reserved, with new families due to move in at a steady pace over the coming weeks.
Corelli is situated in a sought-after location next to Sherborne’s historic town centre, six miles east of Yeovil.
There are excellent commuting links via the A303 and A30 while Sherborne train station is just a short drive away. Convenient shopping and leisure facilities are close by.
There are a number of schemes and initiatives to help people move to Corelli, including the Government-backed Help to Buy Scheme, which means that people may only need to find a five per cent deposit.Persimmon Homes’ Part Exchange scheme is also available, where the house builder will organise the sale of a customer’s existing home from start to finish after two independent valuations.
