GENEROUS DONATION KICK-STARTS VITAL IMPROVEMENTS
06 September 2021

A community football club has been awarded £1,000 in order to enhance its training and recreational facilities for local youngsters.
Leigh Town FC, who play at Queensway Playing Fields, play a key role in the area’s sporting life, offering opportunities for children and young people to train and play in a secure environment. Sadly, the club’s facilities have been hit over the years by vandalism, with pitches being constantly damaged, changing rooms and cabins suffering graffiti and fencing also being targeted.
But a pledge of £1,000 through our Building Futures fund is set to help support the club’s rebuilding plans.
Leigh Town spokesperson Darren Kenny said: “It’s great that Persimmon Homes has come to our aid in this way. This generous donation will be used to replace old and damaged equipment, training kits and will enable us to stage a community fun day, to attract more members and raise further funds.”
Persimmon North West sales director Dave Hodgson said: “Local football clubs can play a pivotal role in inspiring young people to take up sport. “We are committed to giving children of all ages the opportunity to train and play, which is not only healthy and great fun but benefits them as they move towards young adulthood.”
