A Surrey football club for young people has received a £1,000 boost.
Windlesham United (Youth) Football Club received the cash from Thames Valley as part of its Community Champions scheme.
Andrew Barclay, from the club, said: “We are wholly funded, managed and run by local qualified volunteers within the community, for the benefit of local children.
“We currently have around 400 girls and boys playing in the club ranging in age from 4-18 years, across 28 teams. The club operates to FA standards and not only teaches football but also enhances both mental and physical wellbeing in our players.
“While a lot of the club’s running costs are covered by the membership fees we also very much rely on sponsorship and fundraising. On behalf of Windlesham United, thank you Persimmon Homes for this donation, which will go towards players’ kit and equipment.”
