Planners at Cardiff Council have given their approval to the developers behind The Parish in Capel Llanilltern for plans to construct the next phase of new homes and key community infrastructure.

Persimmon Homes East Wales will now commence work on the site in the north west of the capital city on the next 167 high-quality homes, 62 of which will be reserved for a local housing association. Properties range from one-bed flats to four-bedroom houses.

The approval for Phases 4B and 5A also includes the Local Centre, promised during the outline planning stage, which will deliver nearly 19,000 square feet for commercial use, as well as a new public square within this with space for potential outdoor dining, markets, and socialising.

Construction is expected to begin this autumn, meaning the first of the homes will be ready for occupation in the second half of next year.

The accredited five-star housebuilder is delivering up to 1,500 high-quality homes across this multiphase site on the outskirts of Cardiff. The scheme also includes a primary school, shops, offices, sport pitches, and a transport park-and-ride facility.

There are currently three, four, and five-bed homes for sale at The Parish from £334,995. Four-bed homes are also available from £499,995 at Glan y Coed, the adjacent development by Charles Church.

Commenting, Persimmon Homes East Wales’ managing director, Lee Hawker, said:

“Persimmon is delighted to have secured planning on the next stage of our largest development in the region, one that will provide a new home for thousands of households to call their own for years to come, and we thank Cardiff Council planners for working with us to achieve this.

“We are not only proud of being able to deliver those much-needed homes in the capital – both for local people and housing associations – but the key community infrastructure we have promised throughout the process, including the much-desired local centre.

“This will all be complemented by a new school, shops, offices, and sports pitches once complete, ensuring that this large community is brought together in a sustainable and attractive way.

“Placemaking is central to our mission, and we cannot wait to make these plans a reality, as Persimmon leaves behind a positive and lasting legacy on-site.”
