11 March 2021
A Barnsley charity that helps prevent social isolation plans to launch a spring activity pack for families, following a donation from Persimmon Homes South Yorkshire.
Westwood has received £840 from the Persimmon Homes Community Champion scheme for its new Playing In initiative, which is free to families that register for the programme.
The scheme will feature a collection of craft activity videos suitable for children aged four to 11 years. Families are required to register for the programme by emailing email@example.com
Neil Morris from Westwood said: “We are really excited about our new Playing In scheme and immensely grateful that Persimmon Homes has chosen to support our work.
“We are working with a team of craft specialists who are helping us create a series of online activities which families can enjoy in the comfort of their own home.
“Each video is carefully designed for its target audience and will include a range of creative and thematic activities such as card making, painting, cooking and building.
“We are targeting families in the areas around Junctions 35 – 36 of the M1 and craft pack resource material will be delivered to those that have registered for the programme.”
Persimmon Homes South Yorkshire makes two donations of up to £1,000 every month to grassroots groups and charities in the areas where it is building.
Richard Hosie, managing director for Persimmon Homes South Yorkshire, said: “Westwood 2015 is run entirely by volunteers and is providing exciting new way to help Barnsley families feel part of a community. We are delighted to be supporting their new venture.”
