Lanarkshire Deaf Hub receives £4,000 donation from Persimmon West Scotland

Funding will support vital youth project to teach life skills and creativity to deaf children and young people in Motherwell

Persimmon West Scotland has donated £4,000 to Lanarkshire Deaf Hub, helping the charity deliver its Life Skills & Creativity for Youth Project in Motherwell.

Lanarkshire Deaf Hub, the leading deaf-led charity in Lanarkshire with more than 300 members, has been connecting and supporting communities since 2003. The organisation provides vital resources, guidance, and advocacy for people of all ages with deafness and hearing loss, ensuring their rights, engagement, and inclusion are protected.

The new project will provide young people aged 7–17 with practical skills and creative opportunities designed to build confidence, independence, and social inclusion. Through hands-on workshops, children and teenagers will learn sewing, arts and crafts, cooking, and nutrition—skills that will have a lasting impact on their lives.

The donation will be used to purchase equipment, materials, and resources to run the workshops effectively and inclusively.

Chris Logan, Persimmon West Scotland Managing Director, said:

"Lanarkshire Deaf Hub plays a vital role in supporting families and young people across Motherwell and beyond, and we’re delighted to back their new project.

“Equipping young people with life skills and creative opportunities will make a real difference to their confidence and independence, and it’s something Persimmon is proud to support as part of our Community Champions initiative."

The donation comes through Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme, which sees each of the company’s 29 regional businesses donate up to £6,000 every three months to local charities and community groups.
