Liam Is Head Of Construction – And Not Yet 30
30 January 2020
A 29-year-old from Swansea has been promoted to Head of Construction at Persimmon Homes, becoming one of the youngest people in the role in the UK.
Ambitious Liam Puckett is the new HoC at Persimmon Homes East Wales, based in Llantrisant.
He is Persimmon’s second youngest Head of Construction across the whole of the UK – and the youngest in Wales.
“I’m delighted to have been promoted,” said Liam. “I feel very fortunate to have received the support I have from Persimmon. The company has been terrific to me.
“Head of Construction has always been the target and it’s great to have made it before reaching the age of 30.”
Liam started with Persimmon as an apprentice carpenter when he was 16. He progressed onto assistant site manager and site manager before becoming the youngest contracts manager Persimmon Homes East Wales had ever had at the age of 25.
Next up was build manager before this latest promotion at the turn of the year.
Liam said: “I was working on the trades and I was inspired by the managers. I decided that’s what I wanted to do, so I packed the tools up and went for it.
“My job now covers everything from chasing customer care issues to staff admin, monitoring the stats to analysing processes and, more importantly, driving the build and delivering the level of standards expected on quality.
“Rising through the ranks has been tough at times and I’ve definitely made some mistakes along the way, but Persimmon has always been understanding and supportive in moving forward.
“I’m not finished yet. I want to keep progressing in my career and continue to give a good service to our customers.”
Martin Smith, managing director of Persimmon Homes East Wales, said: “Liam has done fantastically well to reach Head of Construction before his 30th birthday.
“He has set himself a goal and worked tirelessly to get there. It’s brilliant to see.
“Persimmon is a company which believes in supporting people in their careers, and Liam’s story is just one example of that.”
