Little Free Library marks new chapter for Tithebarn readers

25 September 2024

Tithebarn’s Little Free Library

Tithebarn’s Little Free Library officially opened with support from South West region.

Tithebarn’s Little Free Library and noticeboard were opened by Broadclyst Parish Council with the support of a £1,000 donation from local housebuilder Persimmon Homes.

The area was officially opened with a storytelling afternoon hosted opposite the Library by Tithebarn Residents' Association, with parents and young children from across the local community joining to encourage reading and the sharing of stories.

As part of Persimmon’s ambition to create outdoor community assets that increase social cohesion, the Parish Council received a £1,000 donation through Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative to build and install their Little Free Library.

Every Persimmon operating company across Britain donates £24,000 each year to community organisations and good causes in the area it develops. In the last two years, the scheme has donated over £1.35 million to over 1,400 charities, sports clubs, and local community groups across the country.

Jake Bonetta, Broadclyst Parish Community Connector, thanked Persimmon and commented:

"We want to thank Persimmon and the community for embracing Tithebarn's new Little Free Library. It's been fantastic to see so many families using the resource, supporting community cohesion and children's reading, and we look forward to keeping the project going well into the future"

Stacey Harris, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes South West, commented:

“We are delighted to support Broadclyst Parish Council and see the opening of the Little Free Library, continuing our plan to support local causes and develop the areas where we build.

“It is a fantastic community initiative which is already being widely used, particularly with residents living at our Cherrywood Grange and Ashworth Place sites able to benefit from this scheme too.”

South West region currently has high-quality properties for sale at two sites in the area – two and three-bed homes are available for purchase from £117,500 at Cherrywood Grange in Tithebarn and Galileo at Cranbrook, with five-bed properties also for sale at the former.
