New Dunbar street named after French twin town
12 August 2015
A new street in Dunbar has been named in honour of its French twinning town, Lignières.
Members of the Lignières Twinning Association visited the Persimmon Homes Earls Gate development, of two, three, four and five bedroom properties, to unveil the new street.
The party, from the small French town in central France, along with members of the Dunbar & District Twinning Association and local residents, were special guests of Persimmon Homes to welcome the unveiling of Lignières Way.
Chairman of the Dunbar & District Twinning Association, Richard Smeed, said: “We were delighted that Persimmon Homes East Scotland liaised with Dunbar Community Council to name the street after our French counterparts. We hope our VIP guests enjoyed seeing their town commemorated at Earls Gate.”
Dunbar twinned with Lignières in 1994 and since then representatives from the two towns have enjoyed annual visits. Last year marked the 20th anniversary of the twinning, which was celebrated with civic receptions in both communities which were attended by over one hundred people from both associations.
Persimmon Homes East Scotland sales director, Lorraine Clelland, said: “The pretty town of Lignières has a strong connection with Dunbar and a brand new development seemed like the perfect opportunity to reinforce the link between the two towns.
“We hope that the people of Lignières feel an even stronger connection with Dunbar now they have visited Earls Gate, and viewed the street to be named after their town.”
Earls Gate offers a selection of property styles and budgets that will appeal to first time buyers, growing families and retired couples in a tranquil picturesque setting with excellent access to rail and road networks. Prices start from £137,000.
