New Homes in Hartlepool Approved
22 January 2025

Hartlepool Borough Councillors have voted to approve the development of 316 new homes on land between the A689 and Brierton Lane.
Members of the Council’s planning committee approved a reserved matters application from our Teesside business for 316 new homes including 26 to be transferred to a housing association or sold at below market value.
This will form phase 1 of the wider Hartlepool South West Extension development, which received planning approval on a hybrid application for 1,260 new homes earlier this year.
Persimmon will provide over £3 million in section 106 contributions, including over £2.4 million to local primary education and £400,000 toward highways infrastructure.
Persimmon, after working with a local historian, will also submit street names to the council which draw upon characters and events synonymous with the area.
New pedestrian and cycle links will be provided, and all homes will come equipped with EV charging points and PV panels.
Richard Holland, Land and Planning Director at Persimmon Teesside, said: “We are pleased that Hartlepool Council has approved these plans for 316 much-needed high quality homes.
“This development will provide a range of energy efficient homes suitable for first-time buyers, families and downsizers alike at prices people can afford.
“We look forward to starting construction on the site that with its extensive transport links and excellent local amenities, we’re sure will prove extremally popular with local homebuyers.”
