29 July 2020
The first homes on Acorn Gardens development in County Durham have been released to the market.
Acorn Gardens, in Middridge Road, Newton Aycliffe, will provide 72 homes in a range of styles offering a selection of two, three and four-bedroom properties. Persimmon Homes has already started construction work on the £8 million development and homes are now available to buy off-plan.
In addition to the new homes more than £170,000 will be spent on infrastructure, including almost £50,000 on the NHS in addition to supporting public open spaces and biodiversity
Richard Cook, managing director of Persimmon Homes Durham, said: “As a responsible builder, whenever we start working within a community, we look at ways to support local people and infrastructure and deliver affordable homes.”
“These Section 106 contributions are required as part of the planning process and, in the case of Acorn Gardens, this will contribute a significant amount of funding to improve and enhance local services and the environment.”
“We are also pleased to be creating jobs in construction and the supply chain which brings a boost to County Durham’s economy and the region overall.”
Christine Cooper, sales director for Persimmon Homes Durham, added: “Newton Aycliffe is a vibrant town and this semi-rural setting gives you access to some excellent facilities right on the doorstep.”
“Across all our developments we are committed to providing a desirable selection of homes for local people at the right price.”
