New homes to help Fife families

24 August 2023

North Scotland has partnered with Kingdom Housing Association to deliver much-needed new homes in Markinch.

Twenty-three high-quality new homes will help local people in housing need, following the completion of a project involving our North Scotland region and Kingdom Housing Association.

The homes have been built on the region's West Mill development in Markinch and the mixture of properties, ranging from one-five bedrooms, has now been transferred to Kingdom Housing Association.

North Scotland’s Managing Director James MacKay and Kingdom Group Chief Executive Tom Barclay were joined on site by Markinch’s local politicians to mark the completion of the project. Jenny Gilruth MSP, Peter Grant MP and local councillors Jan Wincott, Lynn Mowatt and Peter Gulline were given a tour of the West Mill development and heard how the new homes are already benefitting families in need.

Tom Barclay, Kingdom Group Chief Executive, said:

“The new homes at West Mill are a great example of what we can achieve when we work together. Our collaboration with Persimmon and the Scottish Government means we’re able to provide 23 stylish affordable homes in an area where demand is high.

“Our commitment to sustainability and the environment is built into these homes and it was a pleasure to discuss that with our invited guests. Solar panels and high levels of energy efficiency mean lower fuel bills. That’s good for the environment and great for our customers.”

James MacKay, Persimmon North Scotland Managing Director, said:

“West Mill is the latest example of our successful partnership with Kingdom Housing Association, which is delivering much-needed new homes for local families across Fife. It was great to welcome the local elected representatives to the site to see the positive impact these homes are having in Markinch.

“We’re continuing to work hard to prioritise quality and affordability for all our customers. As well as the 23 homes which have now been transferred to Kingdom Housing Association, the average price of a Persimmon home is 16% below the average price of a new build in Scotland – extending the opportunity of home ownership to more local families.

“We’ll continue to work closely with our local partners to ensure our investment makes a positive difference to communities across Fife.”
